- Evidence from the Noble Qur’aan
and (remember) when we sent towards You (Muhammad Sal-Allaahu ‘alayhe Wa Sallam) Nafran (three to ten persons) of the jinns, (quietly) listening to the Qur’ân, when they stood In the presence thereof, they said: “Listen In silence!” and when it was finished, they returned to their people, as warners.
Say (O Muhammad Sal-Allaahu ‘alayhe Wa Sallam): “It has been revealed to Me that a group (from three to ten In number) of jinns listened (to This Qur’ân). they said: ‘Verily! we have heard a wonderful recital (this Qur’ân)!
- Evidence from the Sunnah:
Muslim narrated in his saheeh that Ibn Mas’ood رضي الله عنه said:
We were in the company of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ one night, we noticed he was missing. We searched for him in the valleys and mountain passes, then we thought that he had either been taken away (by the Jinn) or killed secretly. We spent the worst night that any people have ever spent, then when morning came we saw him coming from the direction of Hira’. We said: O Messenger of Allah ﷺ, we missed you and looked for you, but we could not find you, and we spent the worst night that any people have ever spent. He said:
“A petitioner of the Jinn came to me and I went with him and recited the Qur’aan to them’.
Then he went with us and showed us their tracks, and the traces pf their fires,
They (the Jinn) asked him about their provision and he said:
“Yours is every bone over which the Name of Allah has been mentioned, which will fall into you hands covered with flesh, and every piece of dung is food for your animals.”
Then the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said:
“Do not use these two things for Instinja’ (cleaning after relieving oneself), for they are the food of your brothers. (Saheeh Muslim bi Sharh Al-Nawawi, 4/170.)
